Business

The ambitious MorningKai team of tech founders and developers were focused on launching a transformative AI work/life management tool for busy urban individuals, as they finalized their funding application.

Role & Responsibilities

UX Designer responsible for user research, wireframing, prototyping, usability testing, and UI design

Overview

After completing the desktop redesign and securing funding, we began developing the MorningKai mobile app. Research from the desktop phase showed that accessibility and mobility were essential for users to integrate MorningKai into their daily routines—making a mobile experience a necessity, not a nice-to-have.

The goal was to translate MorningKai’s AI-powered task organization into a seamless, mobile-first experience for planning and managing days on the go. I led the design of the mobile interface, focusing on usability, accessibility, and efficiency so users could easily interact with their schedules anytime, anywhere. This mobile companion aimed to increase adoption and engagement while strengthening the case for additional funding and a full MorningKai product ecosystem.

Meet Chloe Garcia, The Ambitious Multitasker

Chloe is a 26-year-old marketing manager balancing a demanding tech job with personal goals, hobbies, and relationships.

The Daily Struggle - Planning that Feels like Work

Chloe uses multiple planning tools, but the effort to organize tasks is time-consuming and exhausting—causing her days to become reactive instead of intentional.

Design Opportunity

Chloe’s experience reveals a broader issue: productivity tools demand high effort with low clarity. MorningKai addresses this by enabling effortless, balanced planning—so users can focus on living, not just organizing.

The Problem

Busy urban professionals (ages 20–35) struggle to manage their days on the go—capturing ideas, organizing tasks, and maintaining structure away from their desktops. Without a mobile solution, they risk losing momentum and abandoning productivity tools. They need an intuitive, accessible app that supports planning anytime, anywhere—making MorningKai an indispensable daily companion.

To summarize the problem with 3 Main Pain Points:

How might we…

reduce planning time so users can focus on doing??

  • Capture thoughts quickly via text or voice.

  • Acquire users with AI-powered planning

  • Retain users through personalized habits

  • Build investor-ready product value

  • Differentiate via thought-to-task automation

With AI as a supportive planning partner, MorningKai turns mental clutter into clear, actionable routines by capturing ideas quickly, organizing them intelligently, and centralizing tasks and schedules in one trusted space. The platform becomes a daily anchor—guiding users toward realistic plans, balanced habits, and meaningful progress.

The Mobile App: Seamless On-the-Go Capture

Feature 1: AI- Planning Assistant

Rather than letting free-flowing thoughts simply occupy their daily schedule, users want helpful, constructive feedback that aligns their ideas with their overarching life and short-term goals.

Design Evolution

Feature 2: Task Organization Buckets

To create a seamless experience, this feature brings familiar Thought-Starter Scroll from the desktop app to mobile. It also makes searching the To-Do list faster by letting users quickly find tasks within chosen categories.

Feature 3: On-the-GO TO-DO List

An On-the-Go To-Do list is essential - users want to access and update their daily schedule anytime, where they are.
